Thursday May 31st

Hello All,

So, before the details of the next performance, we're at the end of another fine season of Balladeers and Chancers...some real highlights and variety , the wonderful tenor and lounge jazz of Ocean Blue; the refined honed sounds of Ken Appleby both in his trio and duo; the final blossoming of Jerry Price after years of hesitancy; the lively pup that just wont settle down of Rhythm and Bob; the harmonies and audience participation inducing of Rapsquillion; the return of old friends in Grey Wolf and Red Dog,  with Andy Cook and Jim Allen from the much admired and now defunct Floor; the strange honour of being the last gig Marcus Morris from A Month of Sundays played....

So to the sounds to see us out, another opportunity for me to select a few specials for us all
Heed the Thunder, that fine alt country tinged band with delicate filigrees of accordion (Kate) driven by  fine songwriting and impassioned guitar (Alex) all sat upon confident bass lines (Mark)...if you've not seen them..dont miss this one....

..come on its free for chrissakes..all we ask is you donate the price of a decent drink into the hat to pay towards musicians petrol costs..

In support we have Beth Prior, once of The Daughters who I know charmed and moved many of you at previous performances here and in Hay.
Now she is flying single and says..
'Armed with a new solo album, and new material. The Shrewsbury based Beth Prior is back with her original fusion of folky, rootsy, reggae fuelled gypsy soul, which is sure to put fire in your belly and warmth in your heart !'

She will.....just turn up

and also we have a return from earlier this season, Aspel Orchid ..'a singer songwriter with powerful, poetic songs that wrap themselves around your throat and wont let go'...certainly she had the audience equally amused by her subject matter (owls, the Alien quadrilogy,Narwhals?)  and entertained by her presence last time she performed at B&C's and as she's old friends of 'the Heed' it seemed only right to ask her back for this one

so  see you there?
