Thursday 29th September 2011- season 7

Hi all, welcome to Season 7 of Balladeers & Chancers (9 if you include its earlier incarnation in Bradford). I'm quite proud at having kept it going these years and even more chuffed that it is so well supported and well thought of by audience and performers alike. Like most of these things its coming together was largely happenchance...being at the bar in the Dukes when punters were bemoaning the lack of an acoustic night..having a landlord who was into his music..having Pete (Mustill of Broad Sheep) set the scene already with SheepMusic and willing to set up the p.a for me each month ...having Tony(Lancett, the very sound soundman) come along when John(matthews, the landlord) bought a new p.a..you couldnt have brought all this together..it was happenchance.
So here's to the 7 chakras, the 7 colours of the rainbow, the 7 pillars of wisdom, the 7 wonders of the world ......
the line up for September has completely changed since August..at the cider festival I was quite confident I'd got the frst three Balladeers sewn up..then things began to unravel....speaking of which, if you were at the festival wasnt it a great time..sunny days on the Welsh Borders are a rarity and even more likely to disappear if you've organised an outdoor event..thanks to all the performers and cider and perry makers

your performers for Septembers  Balladeers and Chancers are

Ocean Blue it says here that Mal and Clive 'look to soar like a seagull way up high into the clear air above where the sun shines brightly and the beauty of it all takes your breath away. Why not join them on that journey.' blimey, who could resist..and that's just for starters

Appleby-Kinsey Trio "Ken Appleby is a fingerstyle guitarist. Catherine Kinsey is a singer and songwriter. Together with Emma Stone (flute & saxes), they play interpretations of traditional folk songs, jazz and Latin standards and distinctive original material. Their music is a fusion of English, Celtic and world melodies, influenced by jazz. http://www.myspace.com/applebykinsey

Mark and Jill.. it always reads (of the Rhythm Thieves) and they always deliver a fine performance as a duo,  playing both their own songs and those of the Rhythm Thieves in a gentler acoustic style...its a warm welcome return to them

Chancer ... as yet we dont know who this will be though, given the progress of the last month I expect to receive 7 calls the hour before I set off to the Dukes asking to fill the slot.. see you all there?
