Thursday January 27th 2011

Happy new year to you all and welcome. This seasons been a corker so far though for those of you who saw Heed the Thunder in September I'm afraid 'the heed is deed'..a double whammy for me as i'd approached them to play support and they'd agreed.
We've had polished performances from Howard Bragen, fun and frolics with Ragged Glory, energy and passion with Richard Lewin, harmony and sheer enjoyment with Rapsquillion and who can forget the all round carousing of the pared down Lunacy to just John and Mary and the whole pub joining in...all this and we hadnt yet got to December.

So onto the glorious second half and on Thursday January 27th we have performing...

The Almshouse Band are a threesome with over 80 years of professional performing between them on TV ,the NEC and Royal Albert Hall. They play whatever comes there way as well as blues, klezmer and celtic melodies

A Month of Sundays,
Ledbury's finest troubadors and carousers, a competent four piece (maybe five on the night) playing folk and blues self penned and not so covered covers..they played a storm last time they came to the Dukes and are welcome returning performers

and finally....Floored, Andy Cook on fiddle and Jim Allen on banjo playing an acoustic tour of our side streets though they dont mean this to sound as pretentious as it might.I recently met Jim and asked how he was doing. He said he was practising and now playing with aplomb. Well, anythings an improvement on the banjo I said.
