Balladeers ..in Hay...in May

Hi all,

once again Balladeers and Chancers have been invited to present a day on Bank Holiday Monday 31st May at the fringe festival, Fair in the Square which is held on the Market Square opposite Shepherds ice cream shop.
Every year I attempt to present a different line up, similar to the policy of not repeating performers in any one season at the Dukes
This years stellar perfomances are:

Tim Parkes (12.00-1.00)

nowthen.. Tim did play at last years Hay but as a last minute stand in when one of the other acts had to cancel at late notice. I promised him a proper set at this years festival. Tim is an impassioned singer / songwriter currently recording his first album with Miles Hunt of the Wonderstuff. Impassioned is overused I know..but he's entertaining and a nice bloke to boot..

Star of the Sea (1.00-2.00)

many of you will have seen Matt Donaldson playing in various line-ups at the Dukes ( Loose Hounds, Little Hoedown,Almost Bluegrass plus the occassional impromptu house-bassstand-in). This is his new venture, a fusion of gritty Irish and American tunes and songs, Steve Earle meets Christy Moore territory...

The Daughters (2.00 -3.00)

now performing as a two piece, the Daughters continue to present creative interpretations and self penned songs with sweet harmonies and tunes just out of reach of the here and now..

Little Rhumba (3.00 -4.00)

the ever so talented continent hopping sounds of Powys' (almost) best kept secret come to the stage with a new album under their belt and too many ideas under their hats...you can dance to this stuff

A Month of Sundays (4.00 - 5.00)

..and if little Rhumba are Powys' secret delight, we now also have Ledburys to add to the roster. Any of you who came to the last Balladeers will know how fine a bunch of musicians thess chaps are ..and now they come as a six piece. And those of you who dont know..come and listen

Ceilyx (5.00- 6.00)

finally, to round things off, a stirring set of Folk rock from up and coming Herefordshire six piece and by far the youngest performers on the day. It always seems odd to me how folk musicians get younger as their audiences get older...
